
Commissioned by Marketing and Communications Officer Dena Buttery, the ‘Get Digital!’ was originated to encourage ‘Johnnie’ Johnson’s older residents and tenants to engage more with their computers and laptops, and to take advantage of the vast array of communication and information opportunities on offer by the web and through email.
The programme, which involved a selection of residents – with a wide spectrum of expertise and experience – provided hands-on advice on using a computer and accessing programmes, and illustrated some of the simpler techniques, to build confidence.
“Get Digital!’ is an excellent short intro to computers and IT for older people.” said CD&P MEDIA Director, John O’Sullivan. “And bearing in-mind that with almost 20% of the whole UK population currently over 65, its production was clearly another helpful idea from JJHT.”
